Description

This modules allows users to authenticate against a SAML Identity Provider to log in to your Drupal site. (This means your Drupal site serves as a SAML Service Provider.)

Documentation

The README contains installation instructions, more information about SAML communication, handling of user info, security considerations and more.

A list of all modules with a similar function and a broader overview of SAML use cases in Drupal are available in the Contributed Modules documentation section.

Support status

The main module functionality is stable. Maintenance is lagging (because volunteer driven), but this is not known to affect the majority of projects using it.

In case of needs that go beyond anything that should be handled in the issue queue: feel free to send the main maintainer a message.

As of 2025: 7.x releases have been removed from the project page, but there still is some level of support for 7.x-1.x issues in this issue queue, per D7Security group practices.

Support for multiple IdPs

The SAML auth Multi IDP module provides an implementation. Feedback about this solution
vs. any work (still / not anymore) needed in this module, is welcome in the related samlauth issue.
